The arms are now separated. The middle elephant appears centered near wrist-image pixel (315, 190), or roughly (320, 190) for the whole object, and near high-camera pixel (317, 290). The left link6 is at X-Y coordinates [0, -0.224] m. I should refine the elephant’s body center, perhaps by triangulating the medallion between the high and wrist views. In observation 405, the medallion appears near wrist pixel (275, 225), rather than x = 320 pixels. I estimate its world position as perhaps [-0.017, -0.21, 0.825] m; the earlier whole-object estimate from the high view was [-0.004, -0.224, 0.79] m. The gripper center’s horizontal image coordinate is about 320 pixels, but I am unsure of its vertical coordinate. I want contact around the body midpoint.
I need to align the closing direction across the elephant’s long axis. In the wrist view, its head is on the right near (380, 200), and its rear is on the left near (250, 170). In the high view, I initially estimate the head at (327, 295) and the rear at (305, 283). Could its long axis run along world +X, +Y, like the first elephant, but face the other way? On reconsideration, the current yaw-45° wrist camera’s horizontal world direction is approximately [0.707, -0.707]. The elephant appears horizontal in this view, unlike the first elephant, whose head pointed toward the bottom in observation 52 and whose long axis ran along world -X, -Y. For the middle elephant, another high-view estimate puts the rear at (306, 284) and the head at (326, 295), a pixel displacement of [+20, +11]. For a flat object, this supports a world long-axis direction of +X, -Y.
The current left gripper’s local Y closing direction has world components [-0.707, +0.707], so it is parallel to the elephant’s long axis, pointing the opposite way. I should rotate the gripper 90° about world Z from top-down yaw +45° to yaw -45°, where local Y points along world +X, +Y and closes perpendicular to the body. Yaw 0°, closing along world Y at 45° to the body, is another acceptable option, but yaw -45° should be better. Grasping along the long axis at yaw +45° might be possible if the body is about 0.09 m long and the open gripper spans about 0.1 m, but it would likely be less stable.
I’ll split the 90° rotation into two 45° actions, first reaching yaw 0° with wxyz quaternion [0.707, 0, 0.707, 0], then yaw -45° with [0.653, +0.2706, 0.653, -0.2706]. At link6 z = 1.03 m, I estimate the fingertips at z = 0.872 m, about 47 mm above the elephant’s estimated top at z = 0.825 m. Rotating the open fingers at this hover height appears safe. I’ll keep the current X-Y position for now; the body center may be offset, and the wrist view will change after rotation.
The right arm could approach the staged bar while the left rotates. From its current position [0.179, -0.318, 1.05] m, a bar-hover target of [-0.08, -0.349, 1.03] m is about 0.26 m away, slightly beyond the 0.25 m limit. An intermediate target of [-0.05, -0.36, 1.03] m would be about 0.233 m away. Its X-Y separation from the left elephant position [0, -0.224] m would be about 0.145 m, with 0.136 m of separation along Y. That may provide clearance during the left fingers’ sweep, but the arms could still come close. I could keep the right arm away until the left has rotated, grasped, and lifted the elephant; there are 695 control steps remaining, so efficiency is not critical. Another option is to approach farther from the front at X-Y coordinates [0, -0.38] m, giving 0.156 m of separation from the left arm. The eventual bar pickup near [-0.08, -0.35] m would still be about 0.145 m from the left elephant position.
I’ll first rotate the left gripper to yaw 0° in place while moving the open right gripper to [0, -0.38, 1.03] m, about 0.19 m from its current position. The right wrist currently shows the elephant on the left and the bar near the bottom. This move brings it closer to the bar from the front. While the left rotates around [0, -0.224] m, the right path decreases Y from -0.318 m toward -0.38 m, and I estimate that the separation remains greater than 0.15 m. This appears safe. I’ll use 10 steps, then finish the left rotation to yaw -45° and align the right gripper with the bar.
The bar’s exact staging position still needs refinement. In the current high view, I tentatively read its center near (273, 374), or (272, 374), with another estimate around (273, 372). I can later invert the camera ray using an assumed bar height of z = 0.758 m and refine the position from the right wrist view. For now, the right target [0, -0.38, 1.03] m is only an approach hover.
