The right wrist remains at z = 0.878 m and has not lowered. I initially thought the closed fingers pointed upward because I misread the quaternion components. For the current wxyz quaternion [0.001,-0.121,-0.027,0.992], I first estimated the local-X Z component as +0.240. I also mistakenly read the target [0,-0.130526,0,0.991445] as having a negative Y component and calculated R20 = 2(xz-yw) as +0.259. The earlier SciPy output actually meant w = 0, x = -0.130526, y = 0, and z = 0.991445, which is exactly what I supplied to the robot. In the measured quaternion, -0.121 is likewise the X component, not Y. Using those components, I estimate the local-X X component at -0.967 and R20 at -0.186, so the fingers point downward by about 10.7 degrees. The intended 15-degree downward tilt is correct.
The remaining obstruction may be physical contact or a joint limitation. At wrist z = 0.878 m, I estimate the tip about 0.04 m lower, at z = 0.837 m, close to the blue rim’s estimated height of 0.82 m. The target wrist height of 0.825 m would put the tip near 0.784 m. Could even the closed fingers hit the rim during descent? Their thickness along Y may be about 0.025 m, but their center is at y = -0.059 m, approximately 0.059 m from a basket front at y = 0 m, which argues against finger contact. The gripper body or wrist geometry could instead contact the front-right rim. In the high view, the black gripper-base cylinder appears near pixel (420,190), above the red basket, while the fingers appear near (350,197), above the blue rim. I estimate the closed finger pair extending from wrist x = 0.148 m to tip x = -0.004 m, at y = -0.059 m and tip z = 0.837 m. The blue front wall spans roughly x = [-0.12,0.12] m, y near 0 m, and z near 0.8 m. The Y gap still seems sufficient. I remain uncertain about the mesh width and the camera or gripper-body extent, but contact does not look especially likely from these estimates.
A joint limit could explain the stalled descent at x = 0.148 m, y = -0.061 m. Using an estimated right-base position of x = 0.3 m, y = -0.55 m, I estimate horizontal reach at 0.49 m. Wrist z = 0.878 m represents a height of about 0.2 m, putting the pose near an estimated maximum reach of 0.52 m. Lowering to 0.825 m reduces that height and should seem easier, but perhaps a joint-2 limit prevents the required configuration. Moving toward negative Y or positive X, closer to the base, might help.
One possible retreat is [0.16,-0.15,0.84] m with the 15-degree tilt and closed fingers, moving about 0.09 m forward along negative Y and lowering 0.038 m. I expect that to be reachable. Its estimated tip would be [0.008,-0.15,0.799] m, about 0.08 m in front of the car at y = -0.07 m. Moving afterward along positive Y to wrist y = -0.10 m at z = 0.84 m could contact the car’s front and push it back toward the basket, which I do not want. I could instead rotate there for a grasp, or try to pinch the front bumper and pull toward negative Y. Pushing from behind requires a farther-forward wrist position near y = -0.03 m, which has been difficult. Approaching with open fingers from y = -0.15 m may again make one finger hit the car before it can straddle it, although a front-bumper grasp along X remains a possibility.
I also considered deliberately pushing the green car into the blue basket. It is directly in front of the basket, perhaps 0.05 m from the front wall. A push from negative Y toward positive Y might slide it in or make it climb the wall. However, it needs to clear a rim height of about 0.05 m, and the raised basket rim may be about 0.06 m. Sliding along the table would not pass through that wall. Tipping it over the rim might work, and an upside-down orientation would be acceptable, but it could become stuck. Grasping after moving the basket seems preferable to relying on that push. Pushing the blue basket backward while leaving the car stationary is another possibility, but reaching its rim from a closed-gripper pose near [0.15,-0.061,0.878] m would also be difficult. I will not pursue that now.
A top-down grasp at the rear spoiler is another alternative. Its estimated position is [-0.014,-0.061,0.790] m. The right arm previously approached the red car easily at [0.25,-0.215] m, whereas a green-car approach near [-0.014,-0.061,0.94] m would require an estimated reach of 0.55 m. The natural 90-degree Y-rotation pose might reach it. A wrist height of 0.925 m is another candidate, though the rear finger would remain close to the basket.
I could pinch along the car’s length at the spoiler, perhaps with wrist yaw +105 degrees so the closing direction follows the long axis. With fingers at X offsets of ±0.035 m around spoiler x = -0.014 m, the front finger would be at x = -0.049 m on the cabin and the rear finger at x = 0.021 m beyond the spoiler. For a car length of about 0.09 m, a maximum gap of 0.07 m could fit that rear portion. Closing against the raised spoiler might give a stable pinch between the rear bumper and cabin. The simpler alternative is a top-down widthwise grasp at the extreme rear bumper, x = -0.014 m, y = -0.061 m, with wrist z = 0.94 m. Vertical pads near z = 0.78 m could engage it, but the rear finger near y = -0.02 m would still be close to the blue front wall at y = 0 m. Shifting the grasp to y = -0.08 m may repeat the same alignment problem. Having the left arm grasp the spoiler while the right holds the basket away would add too much complexity.
I believe the opening-command decreases during the earlier top-down approaches were caused by contact with the blue basket, based on their location. Closing along world X instead of Y should avoid extending a rear finger toward the basket. I previously rejected a lengthwise grasp because the whole car is too long, but a pinch across a smaller section of the cabin or front hood may work.
With a fully open gap of 0.08 m around car-center x = -0.05 m, the fingers would be at x = -0.09 m and -0.01 m. For an estimated car length of 0.10 m and X extent from about -0.11 m to a rear near -0.014 m, the rear finger would be just outside the rear and the front finger near the windshield or hood. Descending openly to wrist z = 0.925 m could still make that front finger land on the roof. Moving the center to x = -0.04 m gives finger positions of -0.08 m and 0 m; with a maximum gap of 0.09 m, those become -0.085 m and 0.005 m. Moving the center farther rearward to x = -0.03 m gives approximately -0.075 m and 0.015 m, but the front finger would still be on the cabin. Straddling the entire car from outside its front and rear bumpers would require about 0.12 m of gap, beyond the maximum.
The front hood offers a shorter segment. A center at x = -0.09 m and a gap of 0.06 m would put the fingers at x = -0.12 m and -0.06 m. With the front bumper around x = -0.11 m, one finger would be outside it and the other near the windshield. Closing could clamp the hood between the bumper and raised windshield. This seems worth trying.
For that grasp, one candidate wrist position is [-0.09,-0.071,0.925] m, with downward fingers and closure along X. I want local X along world -Z, local Y along world X, and a proper third axis. Since (-Z) crossed with X gives -Y, local Z should be world -Y. That gives the matrix [[0,1,0],[0,0,-1],[-1,0,0]]. I initially wondered whether its quaternion was [0.5,-0.5,0.5,0.5], but the earlier matrix for that quaternion had local X along -Z, local Y along -X, and local Z along +Y. It still closes along the same X axis, so it is another usable orientation. Its camera-forward vector is [0,-0.5,-0.866], looking toward negative Y and downward. With the fingers opening along X, I expect no Y extension toward the basket apart from an estimated 0.015 m finger thickness along local Z. A hood grasp near [-0.09,-0.07,0.93] m could put one finger near the front bumper at x = -0.13 m and the other near the cabin at x = -0.05 m, pinching a hood section about 0.04 m long.
Either arm could try this. The right arm is currently horizontal near the green car and could rotate to [0.5,-0.5,0.5,0.5], then approach near [-0.07,-0.07,0.97] m if reachable. The left arm could finish the van first and then grasp the green hood; from its estimated base at [-0.3,-0.55] m in XY, the green front near [-0.09,-0.07] m should be reachable. The bunny is already staged for the left arm to place in the white basket, however. Letting the right arm handle the green car while the left handles the van and bunny seems the better allocation. I also considered having the right arm reset or help transport the bunny while the left does the green car, but that would leave the left arm with both remaining tasks.
Rotating the right wrist from its roughly horizontal 180-degree Z pose to the hood-grasp pose requires several increments. Using approximate current quaternion [0,-0.12,-0.027,0.992] and candidate [0.5,-0.5,0.5,0.5], I estimate their dot product as 0.06 - 0.0135 + 0.496 = 0.5425, giving about 2.15 rad of rotation and requiring three increments. I could rotate at a clear elevated pose near [0.15,-0.12,1.03] m, then approach the hood. Since the current low reach is stalled, I could first lift while retreating toward the base to [0.18,-0.15,0.98] m with an intermediate orientation. I expect that to free the arm. I will abandon the side push and try the hood pinch.
A further candidate hood-grasp position is [-0.085,-0.075,0.935] m. The orientation [0.5,-0.5,0.5,0.5] looks toward negative Y and downward, potentially away from the car, although the head view could still guide the approach. I would prefer the opposite closing-axis direction with local Y along world X and local Z along -Y, so the camera looks toward positive Y and downward, toward the car and basket. The previously considered [0.5,0.5,-0.5,0.5] points local X upward and is unsuitable. For the desired proper basis, local X = -Z, local Y = X, and local Z = -Y, the camera-forward vector should be 0.866(-Z) - 0.5(-Y) = [0,0.5,-0.866]. The matrix is [[0,1,0],[0,0,-1],[-1,0,0]], and I tentatively expect a wxyz quaternion near [0.5,0.5,0.5,-0.5]. I will calculate it rather than rely on that estimate. Both versions close along X, but I prefer the one looking toward positive Y.
The left wrist still needs to finish the yellow van’s alignment. Its current quaternion is [0.705,0.048,0.706,-0.047], and the -52-degree yaw target is approximately [0.6355,0.31,0.6355,-0.31]. I estimate the remaining orientation change at 0.71 rad. Its measured height is 0.966 m rather than the target 0.99 m. I plan to continue toward that same target for six control steps. Before issuing robot motion, I will calculate the desired hood-grasp quaternion from the matrix and a SLERP intermediate at fraction 0.35 from the current right quaternion toward it, expecting that increment to be below 1.0 rad. This will prepare the right arm’s retreat and lift while the left finishes aligning the van.
