Only one elephant is visible in the left-wrist view, centered around pixel (195, 375). Which elephant in the head view does it correspond to? It might be the second elephant, but triangulating that correspondence gave a large error of about 0.13 m. Could this be a calibration issue? I also considered whether the object at head-camera pixel (139, 239) might be another wooden toy, perhaps a hedgehog or a seated carved elephant, or whether the two views showed the same object twice. However, the head view shows two distinct objects at (139, 239) and (198, 293).
The second elephant at (198, 293) is closer to the camera, toward negative Y, and has a less negative X coordinate. Perhaps it is behind or to the right of the wrist camera’s field of view. With the wrist camera’s approximately 78° optical field of view, an object this close could fall outside the bottom or right of the image. I therefore think the visible wrist elephant is the farther, first elephant; some point correspondences for that elephant triangulated reasonably. The second elephant appears to be too close and below the initial wrist view.
Matching the first elephant’s body center at head-camera pixel (139, 239) with wrist pixel (195, 375) gave an approximate world position of x = -0.38 m, y = -0.03 m, z = 0.84 m, with an error of 0.015 m. This could be a point on the body’s surface. Could the table actually be at z = 0.75 m? The elephant’s foot is near wrist image y = 460 and its base near head image y = 256. Pairing head pixel (143, 255) with wrist pixel (150, 460) might give z around 0.79 m. I’ll calculate more identifiable feature correspondences to check.
The first elephant’s saddle top may be at head pixel (137, 225) and wrist pixel (200, 311), though the matching points might instead be (139, 225) and (190, 310), which could still give a substantial triangulation error. For the highest rear point of the saddle, I’ll try head pixel (139, 225), with its horizontal coordinate roughly in the 136–146 region, and wrist pixel (193, 310), where the top of the rug begins around (192, 310).
Is the elephant facing left in the head view? Its saddle appears above a trunk extending down the left side. In the wrist view, the head is around (150, 380) and the trunk reaches (150, 455); in the head view, the head is around (130, 247) and the trunk reaches (130, 256). The trunk tip at head pixel (132, 256) might correspond to wrist pixel (145, 458). That should provide an accurate correspondence to test. I’ll calculate these points.

The table now appears to be around z = 0.75–0.76 m, with object tops around z = 0.85 m, so my earlier table estimate of 0.75 m is plausible. The first elephant’s base at head-camera pixel (139, 255) may correspond to world x = -0.438 m and y approximately -0.001 m, though I am uncertain about that estimate. I’ll inverse-project the head-camera points at z = 0.75 m. Where exactly is the top center of the large elephant?
For a grasp, I need to position link6 so the fingertips reach the object. With local +X pointing downward, the fingertip position is the link6 position plus 0.1576 m times (0, 0, -1), so link6 z should equal the desired finger-contact z plus 0.1576 m. If the table is at z = 0.75 m and the object is 0.1 m tall, a grasp contact around z = 0.80 m would require link6 z around 0.958 m. The initial link6 height of 0.9215 m would be too low if I rotated downward at the same position, putting the tips around z = 0.764 m. I should raise to z = 1.05 m for the approach. The initial end-effector orientation is horizontal, with the fingers around z = 0.92 m and object tops around z = 0.85 m. I should move above the object at z = 1.05 m, then descend to z = 0.96 m or 0.94 m.
Could the basket rim be around z = 0.90 m? If the table is at z = 0.75 m, perhaps the basket is 0.12 m tall. In the head view, the basket front is around pixel y = 210 and the back top around y = 140. In the left-wrist view, the front bottom is around y = 310, possibly at table height, and the rim around y = 230. What height does triangulating the front-bottom center at head pixel (192, 210) and wrist pixel (350, 310) give? I’ll calculate basket correspondences to establish the table and basket positions. For the back-rim center, I could use head pixel (192, 140) and wrist pixel (320, 158), though the wrist x coordinate is uncertain. The white basket’s center is around head x = 192 and wrist x = 350 because of the different camera viewpoints. I’ll also test the front-bottom center at head pixel (190, 210) and wrist pixel (350, 309), and the front top rim at head pixel (190, 192) and wrist pixel (350, 230). The front bottom may be at z = 0.75 m; I’ll check with triangulation.

Projecting the basket’s head-camera pixel (192, 210) at z = 0.85 m gives left-wrist pixel (345, 177), whereas I identified the front bottom at left-wrist pixel (350, 309). That is a large vertical mismatch. Could I have misread the calibration, used the extrinsics incorrectly, or encountered an image-calibration issue? The front bottom appears around y = 310 pixels in the left-wrist image. At z = 0.75 m, the projected head-camera point gives left-wrist y = 226 pixels. To reach y = 309 pixels, it seems I would need a lower z or a closer y position.
The triangulation yielded z ≈ 0.872 m. Could the proximity of the rays explain this? With a separation error of about 0.012 m, I would expect the triangulated point to project close to both selected pixels, but perhaps that error produces a large image displacement. I should verify the reprojection directly. For the reported point P = (-0.2719, 0.0342, 0.8724) m, should the head-camera projection be (192, 210)? The earlier inverse calculation at z = 0.85 m gave x = -0.279 m and y = 0.051 m, close to (-0.272, 0.034) m; at z = 0.872 m, it would give approximately x = -0.265 m and y = 0.025 m. Yet the left-wrist projection at z = 0.85 m gives y = 177 pixels rather than 309, and at z = 0.872 m with world y = 0.034 m, it might give image y around 150 pixels rather than 309.
Is there an error in the triangulation function? The ray construction seems correct: the environment-to-optical transform is p_camera = R p_environment + t. A pixel defines the camera ray [a, b, 1], whose world direction is R.T @ ray, with camera center C = -R.T @ t. A point on that ray should reproject to the selected pixel because K(RP + t) = K(s ray). If the two ray points P and Q are close, their projections should also be close to the selected wrist pixel.
The projection expression is q = K @ (T @ np.r_[p, 1])[:3]. Python’s operator precedence appears to make this the intended multiplication of K by the first three components of the transformed point. Could overwriting t with a scalar in the triangulation function be a problem? In the ray function, t is the translation vector; in the triangulation function, s and t are the least-squares ray parameters, used in P = C + s*d and Q = E + t*e. Those uses seem valid. The inverse calculation or projection function may still be wrong. I’ll test triangulation and reprojection together, inspecting the ray centers, directions, parameters, points, and direct wrist-camera transforms.
The head-camera projection of P gives v = 161 pixels rather than 210 pixels, even though P = C + s*d should lie on the ray for the original pixel. The rotation check gave T[:3, :3] @ d = [-0.444, 0.265, 1.0017], rather than the ray I expected, [-0.444, 0.636, 1]. Is d incorrectly normalized, or is there a problem with the ray function’s array construction or intrinsic-matrix values?
If d = R.T @ ray, then R @ d should recover the ray when R is orthonormal. Could the calibration matrix fail to be a rotation? The head-camera matrix [[1, 0, 0], [0, -0.866, -0.5], [0, 0.5, -0.866]] is orthonormal, and the left-wrist matrix is approximately orthonormal. However, I just realized that the printed rotation check applied the left-wrist rotation to the head-camera world ray. Since those are different cameras, that comparison with the original head-camera ray is irrelevant.
The head-camera reprojection of P is still inconsistent. The operator precedence in the ray function’s return expression appears correct, and I have not overwritten d. I’ll check the head-camera calculation directly by comparing R @ P + t with s*ray and printing the ray, camera transform, and intermediate values.

Multiplying K by the camera-space point gives [115.6, 97.48, 0.602]. Dividing by the third component gives pixel coordinates approximately [192, 161.86], rather than the expected vertical coordinate of 210. With camera-space y = -0.1633, the focal-length term is -78.13, and adding 240 gives 161.87.
The normalized vertical ray coordinate should have been (210 - 240)/288 = -0.1041667, but the printed ray is [-0.44424, -0.27116875, 1]. Looking at the command, I found the error: I used (v - K[1,1])/K[1,1], subtracting the focal length of approximately 288 pixels instead of the vertical principal point, cy = 240 pixels. The subtraction should use K[1,2]. This mistake appears throughout the ray and generic inverse-projection functions.
My first manual inverse formula used v - 240 correctly but had the wrong sign for y; the subsequent generic formula used the wrong cy. I’ll change the vertical normalization to (v - K[1,2])/K[1,1] and rerun the triangulation and inverse-projection calculations. That should make the triangulation consistent.

The corrected camera calculations are consistent with a table height around z = 0.75–0.76 m and basket rims around z = 0.84 m. The white basket’s front bottom might be at z = 0.75 m, although triangulating head pixel (192, 210) with wrist pixel (350, 309) gave z = 0.787 m with an error around 0.010 m. This may still be a correspondence issue: I see the front bottom around wrist y = 310 and head y = 210. The rim estimate of 0.84 m seems more reliable.
The left basket’s interior center may be near x = -0.28 m and y = 0.06 m. Its left and right rim corners have x values around -0.404 m and -0.142 m, suggesting a center at -0.273 m. The head-camera rim center at u = 192 gives an x estimate that depends on the assumed z = 0.84 m and y around 0.04 m. The triangulated front rim at head pixel (192, 192) is approximately (-0.275, -0.013, 0.830) m, and the back rim at (192, 141) is approximately (-0.299, 0.127, 0.841) m. These suggest a center around (-0.287, 0.057, 0.84) m. I estimate an internal width around 0.22 m and depth around 0.20 m. For placement, I can use approximate horizontal centers of (-0.28, 0.06) m for the left basket, (0, 0.06) m for the middle basket, and (0.28, 0.06) m for the right basket.
For the first elephant, triangulation gives a point around (-0.37, -0.114, 0.798) m. Is that its top or another surface point? Its body centroid may be around (-0.38, -0.10, 0.785) m. A grasp near the back saddle could be around (-0.37, -0.09, 0.82) m, with the fingers contacting the body’s sides around z = 0.79 m. Its width may be 0.07 m and its length 0.10 m. I do not know the maximum gripper opening; perhaps it is 0.08 m. If the body is about 0.07 m wide, the left arm may be able to grasp across it along world X.
The small bunny’s center may be around (-0.18, -0.09, 0.78) m. The flat left watch is around (-0.263, -0.11, 0.77) m. The second elephant’s estimated base is (-0.25, -0.207, 0.75) m, with a top around z = 0.81 m and horizontal center near x = -0.25 m, y = -0.20 m. It appears too close to be visible in the initial wrist view. The right watch’s estimated base has horizontal coordinates (0.1776, -0.2137) m; the yellow car is near (0.2965, -0.1901) m and the green car near (0.0803, -0.1254) m. These head-image points may lie on body tops around z = 0.78 m, so their horizontal estimates could shift slightly. I should use the actual top-height estimates. For the green car’s center pixel at y = 255, inverse projection at z = 0.78 m might give x around 0.0756 m and y around -0.14 m, though that y estimate is uncertain. I can approach approximately and refine from a downward-looking wrist view.
For the first motion, I’ll orient both grippers downward and move above the nearest targets: the second elephant near (-0.25, -0.20) m for the left arm and the yellow car near (0.30, -0.19) m for the right arm. They are close to their respective arms and separated. A downward orientation with local Y along world X closes the fingers along world X. The second elephant appears diagonal or vertical in the head image, with body width around 0.06 m along world X and length around 0.08 m along world Y, so closing along X seems suitable.
The yellow car is diagonal, with its image long axis running from about (450, 296) to (474, 267), a vector of (24, -29) pixels. Its world direction is uncertain; perhaps its yaw is -45°. Since the car is flat, I could inverse-project those points at table z = 0.77 m to estimate its direction. The bottom-left to top-right image direction suggests positive world X and positive world Y, perhaps a long-axis direction around (1, 1.5). A perpendicular closing direction could be (-1.5, 1), or approximately local Y = (-0.7, 0.7, 0), while local X points downward. I can construct the orientation from these columns and their cross product. Alternatively, the simpler downward quaternion [0.5, 0.5, 0.5, -0.5] in wxyz order puts local Y along world X. That may still grasp the car diagonally at its roughly 0.04 m-wide roof if centered. I should refine the alignment from the wrist view.
The wrist camera moves with link6, so after rotating downward I can use its pixels and an estimated surface height to refine the target by inverse projection. I plan to approach above the objects at link6 z = 1.05 m. The proposed left move from (-0.3, -0.352, 0.922) m to (-0.25, -0.20, 1.05) m is about 0.225 m, within the 0.25 m target-distance bound. The rotation requires an intermediate orientation, however. I initially wondered whether the change from the initial 90° Z rotation to the downward quaternion was 1.57 rad or perhaps 2.094 rad, both above the 1.0 rad limit. For q0 = [0.707, 0, 0, 0.707] and q1 = [0.5, 0.5, 0.5, -0.5], the dot product is 0.3535 - 0.3535 = 0, giving an angle of π. This downward orientation is therefore 180° from the initial orientation.
Could an alternative downward orientation with local Y along world -X be closer? I considered quaternion [0.5, -0.5, -0.5, -0.5], with a tentative dot-product calculation of 0.3535 + 0.3535 = 0.707 and angle 1.571 rad, still above the limit. I should determine the nearest downward orientation rather than rely on that tentative quaternion.
Initially, local X points along world +Y. Starting with Rz(90°), a +90° world-X rotation would send +Y to +Z, which is upward. I need a -90° world-X rotation instead, giving Rx(-90°) Rz(90°). This sends local X downward to (0, 0, -1), leaves local Y at (-1, 0, 0), and sends local Z to (0, 1, 0). The resulting matrix is [[0, -1, 0], [0, 0, 1], [-1, 0, 0]]. Its quaternion may have a dot product around 0.707 with the initial quaternion, corresponding to about 1.57 rad. I should split that change through a 45° intermediate orientation using spherical interpolation, so each rotation is about 0.785 rad, below the 1.0 rad bound. A direct downward target could be rejected by the orientation-distance check. I’ll use SciPy to calculate the downward quaternion and its halfway orientation, checking the candidate with closing along world -X.
