I need to operate the robot, starting by reading the robot-manipulation skill and planning around the objects. I have 1100 control steps available, and there are likely two objects in each category, for six objects total.
My initial interpretation is that the wooden toys may be a rabbit on the left and a small white cow near the center. The rabbit’s precise position is still uncertain, and the small white object may be a wooden toy. The peppers appear to be green and yellow. The watches appear to be a round, bracelet-like object on the left near pixel x = 205 and another watch on the right.
I should place the wooden toys in the left white basket, the peppers in the middle blue basket, and the watches in the right red basket, then reset the robot. I need to use both arms efficiently and localize the objects precisely using the camera calibration. I will read the observation JSON and the skill before proceeding.

I need to work out the geometry and understand the frame orientations. The current quaternion, [0.707, 0, 0, 0.707], represents a 90-degree rotation about Z: local +X maps to world +Y, local Y maps to world -X, and local Z maps to world Z. The fingers therefore extend along world +Y, with the gripper plane horizontal at approximately z = 0.92 m. Does the wrist camera look toward +Y and downward? Its position could be obtained by inverting the extrinsic transform.
The fingers initially appear as vertical black shapes in the image. Their precise world x and y positions are still uncertain from the high view, but they seem to point upward in the image, perhaps corresponding to world +Y because of the camera tilt. Link6 is at approximately x = -0.3 m, y = -0.352 m, z = 0.922 m. With the fingers extending along world +Y, their forward extent reaches approximately y = -0.194 m. The objects may lie around world y = 0.0–0.2 m, and the baskets may be farther away at about y = 0.3 m. I should investigate the table height and image projection.
For cam_high, optical x equals world x, optical y = -0.866y - 0.5z + 0.29893, and optical z = 0.5y - 0.866z + 1.33776. I can use these relationships to estimate positions from object-center pixels if I assume a height. The table might be at z = 0.75 m, with the robot base around 0.92 m, although z = 0.72 m is another possibility. The end effector is at z = 0.922 m, and the fingers appear around image y = 250–300 pixels. If they extend horizontally along world +Y, that may explain their black triangular appearance.
The rabbit’s base is near pixel (187, 252). For an assumed z = 0.76 m, I can solve for world y using v = 240 + 288(-0.866y - 0.5z + 0.29893)/(0.5y - 0.866z + 1.33776). I will use Python to estimate each object’s position under candidate table-top or grasp-point heights. The actual height may be around z = 0.75 m.
I can also check the mapping against the known end-effector geometry. For the left end effector at x = -0.3 m, y = -0.3523 m, z = 0.9215 m, optical x = -0.3, optical y = 0.30505 - 0.46075 + 0.29893 = 0.14323, and optical z = -0.17615 - 0.79809 + 1.33776 = 0.36352. This gives u = 320 + 288(-0.3)/0.36352 = 82.2 and v = 240 + 288(0.14323)/0.36352 = 353.5. The left link6 location appears near pixel (82, 354), possibly at the white body. Extending the fingers along +Y to y = -0.1947 m at the same height gives an estimated u around 100 and v = 277.8. The black fingertip seems to be near (100, 244), though that visual estimate is uncertain. These comparisons suggest the coordinate mapping is right.

I should determine the table height more accurately. The basket may be at y = 0.18 m, and a typical RoboDojo tabletop might be at z = 0.75 m. The initial end-effector height is about 0.92 m. In the left wrist view, the rabbit appears roughly 100 pixels tall, perhaps at a distance of 0.3 m, with a physical size of about 0.07 m. These are still estimates.
For the estimated rabbit position x = -0.298 m, y = -0.085 m, and an assumed z = 0.75 m, I estimate dx = 0.0014 m relative to the left camera. The camera transform gives optical x = x + 0.29963 plus small terms, or approximately 0.0015 m. Optical y = -0.5y - 0.866z + 0.70845 = 0.0425 - 0.6495 + 0.70845 = 0.1014 m, and optical z = 0.866y - 0.5z + 0.71779 = -0.0736 - 0.375 + 0.7178 = 0.2692 m. This projects to approximately (u, v) = (322, 389) pixels.
My visual estimate of the rabbit center in the left wrist image is around (369, 367), or perhaps its body center is (369, 369), with the ears reaching (374, 293). The body might instead be around (370, 380). These estimates differ from the projected position, suggesting that its actual x coordinate could be about -0.265 m. I should use the known gripper geometry and camera calibration to improve the height estimate. Link6 is at x = -0.2995 m, and the camera transform’s x translation is +0.29963 m, suggesting a camera world x coordinate near -0.2996 m. Since the rabbit appears to the right of the wrist image center, its x coordinate may be around -0.26 m.
In the high view, u = 187 gives x around -0.3 m when z = 0.75 m. The roughly 0.04 m discrepancy may come from my approximate pixel selections: I estimated the high-view rabbit center at u = 187 and the left wrist body center at u = 368. I could solve for x, y, and z using both camera projections, provided I select the same feature in each image. Possible corresponding points are (186, 238) in the high view and (372, 372) in the wrist view, but I need to identify them more precisely before triangulating.
I will create enlarged crops to inspect the object features and pixel positions, perhaps using three crop images covering all the objects. Viewing the originals with view_image is another option, but the enlarged crops should help. I do not think another skill is needed for this inspection.

The skill says the observations are read-only. I should save the image crops in my working directory instead.

The enlarged crops are now saved in the working directory. I’ll inspect the high and wrist views to identify corresponding object features more precisely and reduce uncertainty in the position estimates before grasping.

There are six objects: two wooden toys—the rabbit and a white dog or cow lying down—two peppers, and two watches. I need reliable grasps. I could handle the rabbit with the left arm while the right arm handles the yellow pepper or a watch. Those objects go into different baskets, but simultaneous manipulation could improve efficiency.
I should orient the grippers for top-down grasps. The current orientation is Rz(90°), so the fingers extend horizontally along world +Y, and local Y, the closing axis, maps to world -X. For an overhead grasp, I want link6 local +X to point downward along world -Z. A possible quaternion is [0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5], but I should calculate it rather than assume it is correct.
A +90° rotation about local Y, which currently maps to world -X, sends local +X to -local Z and therefore world -Z. This gives q_new = q_current × Ry(90°), or Rz(90°)Ry(90°). Multiplying the quaternions [c, 0, 0, c] and [c, 0, s, 0] gives [0.5, -0.5, 0.5, 0.5] in wxyz order. I will check this with SciPy. For this orientation, local X maps to [0, 0, -1], local Y maps to [-1, 0, 0], and local Z maps to [0, 1, 0]. The fingers would point down and close along world X, suitable for gripping the objects across their left-to-right width.
I also need to consider the wrist camera’s view. Initially, its optical +Z direction is approximately [0, 0.866, -0.5] in the world frame, so it looks toward world +Y and downward. The relative rotation from the current orientation to Rz(90°)Ry(90°) is Rz(90°)Ry(90°)Rz(-90°), equivalent to Rx(-90°). Applying that rotation to the camera’s viewing direction gives [0, -0.5, -0.866]. The camera would look toward world -Y and steeply downward, rather than directly down, perhaps toward objects closer to the base.
To check that interpretation, the environment-to-optical rotation maps world points into camera coordinates, and its third row gives the optical +Z axis in the world frame. That confirms the initial viewing direction of approximately [0, 0.866, -0.5]. With the new orientation, the fingers would extend downward, but I am unsure whether the camera’s offset would still let it see the object beneath the gripper. I should inspect the view after rotating.
An alternative top-down quaternion might be [0.5, 0.5, 0.5, -0.5], perhaps with closing along world Y and the camera looking toward +Y and downward. I need to work out its axis mapping. Transforming the initial camera viewing direction into the link6 frame with the inverse of Rz(90°) gives [0.866, 0, -0.5]. Thus, the camera points mostly along finger local +X, tilted toward local -Z.
If local X maps to world -Z and local Z maps to world -Y instead of +Y, the camera viewing direction becomes 0.866(-Z) - 0.5(-Y), or +0.5Y - 0.866Z. That would give the forward-and-downward view I am considering. Local Y would then map to world +X, since (-Z) × (+X) = -Y. The desired rotation matrix would have columns [0, 0, -1], [1, 0, 0], and [0, -1, 0]. Its quaternion may be [0.5, 0.5, 0.5, -0.5]; I will calculate it with SciPy.

I constructed the previous matrices incorrectly. I should explicitly use the desired local axes as columns: local X maps to world −Z = (0, 0, −1), local Y maps to world +X = (1, 0, 0), and local Z maps to world −Y = (0, −1, 0). This gives R = [[0, 1, 0], [0, 0, −1], [−1, 0, 0]].
The quaternion may be [0.5, 0.5, 0.5, −0.5] in wxyz order, though I am still unsure about the negative-w representation or the normalized sign. I will calculate it properly.

The camera offset in the link6 local frame is approximately x = 0.0848 m and z = 0.0509 m, while the fingers extend to x = 0.1576 m. In the forward-looking top-down orientation, local X maps to world −Z and local Z maps to world −Y. The camera offset is therefore −0.0509 m in world Y and −0.0848 m in world Z. It sits about 8.5 cm below link6 and 5 cm behind it in Y, looking toward +Y and downward. The fingertips are 0.1576 m below link6, so the camera is 0.0728 m above them.
Should link6 be about 0.20 m above the object? That would put the camera about 0.115 m above the object. My tentative estimate for an object along the camera’s central viewing direction is y_camera + 0.05 + 0.115 × 0.577 = y_link + 0.066 m, but I should derive the alignment more explicitly. The viewing direction is d = [0, 0.5, −0.866], and the camera is at link6 + [0, −0.0509, −0.0848] m. A centered object would have an object-to-camera vector t × d.
If the grasp point is at local finger x = 0.12 m, with the object at the same world Y as link6, its vector from the camera is [0, 0.0509, −0.0352] m, since −0.12 + 0.0848 = −0.0352. The ratio |z|/y is about 0.69 rather than the desired 1.732. Is the object too low in the image? Raising link6 until the vertical difference is about −0.0882 m for a Y difference of 0.0509 m would put the object at local x = 0.0848 + 0.0882 = 0.173 m. That is close to the 0.1576 m fingertip extent. An object near local x = 0.17 m should therefore appear near the image center. A link6 height around the object’s Z coordinate plus 0.16 m would put the fingertips at the object’s height and let the camera view its center.
The backward-looking top-down orientation also appears workable. Here local X maps to world −Z and local Z maps to world +Y, giving a camera offset of +0.0509 m in Y and −0.0848 m in Z, with viewing direction [0, −0.5, −0.866]. An object 0.17 m below link6 would be at [0, −0.0509, −0.0852] m relative to the camera, approximately aligned with that direction. I briefly wondered whether link6 needed to be farther in positive Y than the object, but placing it at the same Y would put the camera about 0.05 m farther in +Y, looking back toward the object.
The forward-looking orientation requires a 180° rotation from the initial orientation, whereas the backward-looking one requires 90°. I can use the easier backward-looking quaternion [0.5, −0.5, 0.5, 0.5] in wxyz order. Its rotation matrix is [[0, −1, 0], [0, 0, 1], [−1, 0, 0]], so the fingers point downward and local Y, the closing axis, maps to world −X.
The initial end-effector Y coordinate is about −0.352 m, while the objects appear to be around Y = −0.1 to −0.2 m. Rotating in place into the backward-looking pose would put the camera near Y = −0.301 m and Z = 0.837 m, looking toward −Y and downward. An object at Y = −0.1 m would be in the opposite Y direction, although the downward component might still allow it into view if it were sufficiently far below. I could instead move link6 toward Y = −0.05 m and Z ≈ 0.95 m. The camera would then be near Y = 0, with objects at Y = −0.1 m ahead of it along negative Y.
I need the objects’ world coordinates before grasping. I can triangulate matching features between the high and wrist cameras, or refine localization from the wrist view after moving overhead. My first motion should rotate and move both arms into safe pre-grasp poses above their object groups. The first pair can be the rabbit with the left arm and the yellow pepper with the right arm.
I am still considering how to allocate the remaining objects. One option is for the left arm to handle the rabbit, white toy, and left watch, while the right arm handles both peppers and the right watch. That gives three objects per arm, and the right arm only needs to reach about X = 0.35 m to place its watch. However, the left watch would need to travel to the right basket at X = 0.35 m, a roughly 0.6 m transfer. If the left base is near X = −0.3 m, reaching across to that basket may be difficult.
A possible three-round plan would be: first, left rabbit to the left basket and right yellow pepper to the middle basket; second, left white toy to the left basket and right green pepper to the middle basket; third, both watches to the right basket. But the left watch appears near X = −0.23 m, giving about 0.58 m between it and the basket at X = +0.35 m. The ARX X5 reach might be around 0.55 m, and perhaps the left arm can only reach X ≈ 0.1 m. These are uncertain estimates. I should avoid assuming that cross-body placement is feasible. A handoff, or moving the left watch to the center for the right arm to pick up, is another possibility, though it adds handling.
Another allocation is for the left arm to handle both toys and the green pepper, and the right arm to handle the yellow pepper and both watches. That is also three objects per arm. The rounds would be rabbit and yellow pepper first, white toy and right watch second, then green pepper with the left arm and left watch with the right arm. The green pepper is around X = 0.2 m, closer to the right arm, so the left arm would need to reach about 0.5 m across from a base at X = −0.3 m, plus the displacement to Y = −0.1 m. The right arm reaching the left watch at X = −0.23 m from a base at X = +0.3 m would similarly need about 0.53 m of lateral reach. Both might be near their limits, but perhaps feasible with an estimated maximum reach of 0.55 m.
The basket centers may be around X = −0.36, 0, and +0.36 m. Perhaps the task expects some crossing, and each arm can reach all baskets, but a left-arm reach across roughly 0.7 m to the right basket could be difficult. Moving the baskets is an option in principle, but I do not see a need for it yet. With the toys-and-green-pepper allocation, the green pepper only moves from X = 0.2 m to the middle basket at X = 0, while the right arm transports the left watch about 0.6 m to X = 0.36 m.
The base positions are still estimates based on the initial end effectors at X = ±0.3 m, Y = −0.35 m, Z = 0.92 m. If the baskets are at Y = 0.14 m, my estimated base-to-left-watch distance for the right arm is sqrt(0.53² + 0.15² + 0.17²) ≈ 0.58 m. That may be at the edge of reach. The rabbit-to-left-basket motion should be easier. Having the left arm grasp its nearby watch and place it in the right basket could require about 0.65 m from the left base and may be impossible. It may be better for the right arm to extend to grasp the left watch; I should verify this through the kinematic precheck rather than assume feasibility.
For now, I will start with overhead grasps of the rabbit and yellow pepper. I should refine the rabbit’s coordinates using corresponding image features. Its eye might be near (195, 239) pixels in the high view and (398, 381) in the wrist view, but those matches are tentative. A corresponding front foot or ear could help estimate the object’s base position; for the grasp itself, the body center should be enough.
The rabbit body appears near (188, 239) pixels in the high view. In the earlier wrist crop, whose origin was (290, 260) and which was enlarged by a factor of three, a head center near crop pixel (280, 330) would correspond approximately to original pixel (383, 370). The high-view head might be near (192, 239), or perhaps (191, 241), rather than the body point. I can solve for world coordinates using two camera rays and least-squares triangulation, but I must first make sure the points represent the same physical feature. The black eye may be near (192, 239) in the high view and around (398, 382) in the wrist view. I will create larger rabbit-only crops to inspect those correspondences before choosing them.

I’ll inspect the enlarged rabbit crops from the high and left wrist cameras to find matching features. This should help refine its uncertain position estimate before aligning the grasp around its body.

The low triangulation error confirms the rabbit feature matches. The table is probably at z = 0.75 m. I estimate the rabbit’s eyes at z = 0.803 m, the top of its head at z = 0.82 m, and its base at z = 0.75 m. Its body center is around (x, y, z) = (−0.266, −0.125, 0.78) m. My earlier high-view estimate assumed z = 0.75 m and gave x = −0.298 m, whereas the triangulated feature is actually around x = −0.26 m and y = −0.13 m because its height is z = 0.803 m. I could estimate the table height by triangulating the rabbit’s feet. A possible front-foot match is high-view pixel (196, 249) and wrist pixel (386, 425), though the wrist coordinates are uncertain.
A tentative body grasp point is (−0.263, −0.124, 0.795) m. For the downward, backward-looking orientation, I could place link6 at (−0.265, −0.125, 0.94) m, which is 0.145 m above that grasp point. Perhaps contact should occur around local x = 0.13 m. The fingertips extend 0.1576 m below link6 in this orientation, so at link6 z = 0.94 m they would reach z ≈ 0.782 m, around the middle of the body. The finger pads may span local x = 0.09–0.157 m. I should aim for contact around the object center at z = 0.79 m; with link6 at z = 0.94 m, the fingertips would be at z = 0.782 m, and the pads might cover heights around z = 0.77–0.83 m.
The rabbit’s width along world X may be about 0.055 m, compared with a possible open-gripper width of 0.08 m. It is oriented diagonally, so its effective body width is still uncertain. A head or upper-body grasp near the eyes at z = 0.803 m and x ≈ −0.26 m should fit if I close along world X and the head width is about 0.055 m. The ears may reach z = 0.86 m, so could they collide with the gripper if link6 is too low? I should put the fingertips around z = 0.78 m, with the open fingers descending beside the body. An ear may be near y = −0.1 m. With the ears between the fingers, closing around the head at z = 0.80 m while the ears are above z = 0.84 m seems acceptable.
For the yellow pepper, I should triangulate matching stem or lobe features between the high and right wrist views to refine the grasp location. My tentative center estimates are high-view pixel (471, 233) and wrist pixel (343, 369). Should I match a feature on the lower front instead? A possible stem-base match is high-view pixel (475, 228) and wrist pixel (342, 350), but those wrist coordinates are uncertain. Other rough estimates put the yellow pepper at (470, 236) and the green pepper at (412, 241) in the high view, and the yellow center at (344, 368) in the right wrist view. For the yellow pepper’s green stem, I could use high-view pixel (475, 228) and perhaps wrist pixel (343, 350). The earlier right-object crop began at (45, 300) and was enlarged by a factor of three. I briefly considered a crop pixel value of 894 for the stem base, then rejected it. A displayed yellow-center x coordinate around 875 gives 875/3 + 45 = 336.7 in the original image, while a stem y coordinate around 120 gives 120/3 + 300 = 340. I will create individual yellow-pepper crops from both cameras to inspect these correspondences more precisely.

I’ll inspect the enlarged yellow pepper crops from the high and right wrist cameras to identify matching stem or lobe features. This should help refine its uncertain position and grasp contact point before approaching.

The high-camera crop is enlarged by a factor of six. The yellow pepper’s stem base may be at crop coordinates (213, 123), corresponding to original-image x = (213/6 = 35.5) + 440 = 475.5 pixels and y = (123/6 = 20.5) + 210 = 230.5 pixels. The wrist crop is enlarged by a factor of three. The center of the green stem patch may be at crop coordinates (180, 94), corresponding to original-image x = (180/3 = 60) + 285 = 345 pixels and y = (94/3 = 31.3) + 305 = 336.3 pixels.
Could the feature I selected in the high view be the top of the stem instead? I should match the center of the green patch in both views. A tentative pair for triangulation is high-image pixel (475, 230) and wrist-image pixel (345, 340). I’ll test several candidate pairs.

I estimate the yellow pepper’s center at approximately (0.312, −0.108, 0.78) m, its top at z = 0.82 m, and the table perhaps at z = 0.75 m. A suitable upper-body grasp point appears to be around x = 0.313 m, y = −0.105 m, z = 0.795 m.
I will need to refine the basket positions later. Perhaps I can determine the table height more precisely using the triangulated rabbit eyes at z = 0.803 m and the rabbit’s dimensions; z = 0.75 m remains plausible. The basket’s front upper lip may be at z = 0.83 m, and its bottom center at z = 0.76 m. If matching corners are visible in both the high and wrist views, I can triangulate them. Alternatively, I could estimate positions from the high view using an assumed height. For the left basket’s interior bottom center near pixel (191, 178), assuming z = 0.77 m gives an estimated x around −0.318 m. My earlier calculation at z = 0.75 m gave x = −0.33 m and y = 0.098 m, though I had also considered a basket-center y coordinate around 0.15 m and symmetric x coordinates around ±0.30 m.
I could match the white basket’s corners between the high and left wrist views, then do the same for the blue and red baskets. The white basket appears to span x = 125–256 and y = 140–213 pixels in the high view, and x = 170–526 and y = 157–312 pixels in the left wrist view. A corresponding front-left upper or bottom corner could provide a position estimate. The wrist views will change when the arms move, but the high camera remains fixed.
For now, I can estimate the basket centers from their projected geometry. Their apparent dimensions are about 0.22 m wide, 0.17 m deep, and 0.09 m high. The front bottom edge is near high-image y = 211 pixels, with the tabletop near y = 213 pixels at the basket front. Assuming table z = 0.75 m, the bottom front-center pixel (191, 207) might give x = −0.326 m and y = 0.038 m; I should calculate that. My earlier result at image y = 177 pixels gave world y = 0.098 m, while image y = 207 pixels might instead give world y = 0.014 m. The front bottom may be around y = −0.0 m and the back around y = 0.19 m, putting the center around y = 0.09 m. Tentative basket centers at x = ±0.33 m, y = 0.1 m seem reasonable, with the blue basket at x = 0 m, y = 0.1 m and the red basket at x = 0.33 m, y = 0.1 m. The rabbit is in front at about y = −0.13 m.
For placement, the basket’s interior bottom may be at z = 0.755 m and its rim at z = 0.84 m. Could I carry at link6 z = 1.02 m, with the object center around z = 0.84 m and its bottom around z = 0.79 m? That may not clear the rim. To clear a rim around z = 0.85 m, the pepper or toy center should be above z = 0.90 m. With link6 about 0.15 m above the object, that suggests link6 z = 1.05 m. I could then lower until the object bottom is at z = 0.78 m, with a toy center at z = 0.81 m and link6 at z = 0.96 m, and release with a small drop of about 0.03 m.
Another option is releasing with the object center at z = 0.93 m and bottom at z = 0.88 m, above the rim, allowing a drop of about 0.1 m into the basket. However, a controlled placement closer to the bottom seems better. I could navigate at link6 z = 1.08 m and lower to z = 0.98 m, placing the object center at about z = 0.83 m and bottom at z = 0.78 m. At link6 z = 0.98 m, the fingertips reach approximately z = 0.822 m, or about 0.82 m, while the object bottom extends below them. If the original grasp contact is near body-center z = 0.80 m with link6 at z = 0.95 m, the tips reach z = 0.792 m and the object bottom at z = 0.75 m is 0.042 m below them. Returning link6 to z = 0.95 m over the basket would put the object bottom at z = 0.75 m. The fingers would be above the basket bottom but below its z = 0.84 m rim, so I need to keep them centered to avoid the walls. With an estimated basket width of 0.20 m and open-gripper width perhaps 0.08 m, that seems feasible. I should lower until the object bottom touches its support.
First, I need to move both arms into pre-grasp poses with open grippers and rotate toward the backward-looking, downward-finger orientation. The target quaternion is [0.5, −0.5, 0.5, 0.5] in wxyz order. The full rotation from the current pose is 90°, or 1.571 rad, exceeding the 1 rad per-action limit. I should use a halfway SLERP orientation at t = 0.5, giving a 45° or 0.785 rad rotation.
An initial left target at (−0.265, −0.125, 1.00) m has an estimated displacement of 0.239 m, within the 0.25 m limit. For the right arm, (0.313, −0.105, 1.00) m initially looked like a displacement of 0.252 m, but using its current pose around (0.300, −0.352, 0.9215) m gives about 0.260 m, which is too far. Reducing its target height to z = 0.98 m still gives about 0.253–0.254 m: sqrt(0.013² + 0.247² + 0.0585²). Moving the target y coordinate to −0.115 m gives an estimated distance around 0.245 m. Thus, a right pre-grasp target at (0.313, −0.115, 0.98) m would be about 0.246 m away, while a left target at (−0.265, −0.125, 0.98) m would be about 0.233 m away.
I should calculate the intermediate quaternion accurately. Perhaps halfway SLERP is the normalized sum here. My estimate is [0.653281, −0.2706, 0.2706, 0.65328]. Applying a 45° rotation about local Y to the current quaternion gives approximately [0.6533, −0.2706, 0.2706, 0.6533]. I will use SciPy to check it.
At this intermediate orientation, the fingers point diagonally forward and downward. I need to consider their swept paths. The left fingers initially extend to approximately y = −0.19 m at z = 0.92 m. Moving the arm by about +0.227 m in Y and +0.058 m in Z while rotating gives an intermediate local-X direction of approximately (0, 0.707, −0.707). With the 0.1576 m finger extent and link6 at (−0.265, −0.125, 0.98) m, the tip would be near y = −0.0135 m and z = 0.8685 m. The rabbit’s top may be at z = 0.85 m near y = −0.125 m. An open finger might pass near it, but the estimated tip height of about z = 0.868 m remains just above the ears. The right pepper’s top is around z = 0.83 m, below the estimated tip height of z = 0.869 m. This initial high motion appears clear.
I considered using six control steps for this navigation, but grasp approaches call for one to three steps. Three steps would only advance partway: with task increments limited to 0.02 m and 0.1 rad per step, a 0.23 m translation and 0.785 rad rotation would not finish after approximately 0.06 m and 0.3 rad. I would need several observations and decisions. I could first reposition high and rotate over six steps, then inspect. There are 1100 control steps available. Another possible intermediate pose is z = 1.08 m and y = −0.2 m.
Because this first motion is high and appears unobstructed, I could use eight navigation steps and slow down during the final approach. A 0.24 m target displacement would require about 12 steps at 0.02 m per step, while a 0.785 rad rotation would require about eight. Twelve steps might reach the target, although coordinated scaling can make actual progress smaller. I could use ten steps and inspect afterward. The target still needs to satisfy the 0.25 m and 1 rad bounds regardless of the execution-step count.
For the final choice of intermediate positions, I considered left (−0.265, −0.13, 1.00) m and right (0.313, −0.115, 1.00) m. The right displacement might be around 0.248 m, but the Y difference of 0.237 m and Z difference of 0.0785 m give about 0.2499 m, and including the X difference of 0.0126 m may raise it to 0.2502 m, just over the limit. I will instead use right y = −0.12 m and z = 0.99 m, giving an estimated displacement of 0.240 m. My planned intermediate targets are therefore left (−0.265, −0.13, 1.0) m and right (0.313, −0.12, 0.99) m, both with the halfway quaternion and open grippers. These poses would remain about 0.2 m above the objects with the rotation only halfway complete. After inspecting actual motion, I can finish rotating downward and approach link6 z = 0.94 m for grasping, possibly combining those changes but using short steps near contact.
I will calculate the exact intermediate quaternion before issuing the motion.
