The right retraction succeeded, and the yellow pepper remains near overhead pixel (315, 236). The left arm is nearly at its previous target, with measured link6 position [-0.054, -0.103, 1.005] m and the intended 30° tilt. However, the held toy appears near overhead pixel (280, 252), still in front of the blue basket, whose front edge appears near image y = 210 pixels. I expected the toy center to be near world y = -0.025 m and, at z ≈ 0.86 m, to project around v = 190 pixels. Its visible position contradicts that estimate.
Perhaps the toy hangs much farther below the grasp than I assumed. It may be a long figurine about 0.12 m tall, extending approximately 0.1 m below an upper-body grasp, with its bottom near z = 0.75 m even though link6 is at z = 1.005 m. My assumption that the bottom was only 0.04 m below the grasp may be wrong. In the wrist view, the body extends from about image y = 100 to the bottom at y = 480 pixels. The fingers appear to contact its sides near y = 300 pixels, but the bottom is not visible. It might hang vertically with its bottom about 0.15 m below link6.
At the initial link6 grasp height of 0.94 m, I estimated the toy bottom on the table at z = 0.755 m and the grasp point near z = 0.80 m, only 0.045 m above the bottom. After grasping, the toy could have rotated so its long axis became vertical, leaving the bottom 0.12 m below the grasp and perhaps near z = 0.76 m now. Using the earlier local-X contact distance of 0.155 m, link6 z = 0.94 m gives contact z = 0.785 m. If the toy initially lay flat with a 0.12 m long axis along world Y and thickness 0.05 m, gravity could rotate an end about 0.06 m below that contact point. I estimated a bottom height of 0.725 m, which would penetrate the table unless the grasp were nearer an end. My initial body-top estimate was z = 0.813 m, with a length of about 0.1 m in the table plane, so rotation could change these relationships. A bottom near z = 0.72 m after only a 0.027 m lift would also imply table contact, yet the test lift reported no fault. The toy may not have rotated fully; its overhead appearance remains similar. Stereo measurement could help establish its bottom relative to link6.
The golden feature at (280, 252) might be only the bottom tip, with the rest obscured by the gripper and basket. The left arm is directly over the blue basket’s front, and the toy appears beneath it around image x = 275, y = 210–260 pixels. Its wrist-relative motion still suggests that it is held. At the current left pose and 30° tilt, assuming contact at local X = 0.155 m gives a grasp point near [-0.054, -0.0255, 0.871] m. I estimate its overhead projection near u = 305, v = 183 pixels. In the wrist view, the toy body center is near (320, 300), with pad contact around y = 330 pixels, suggesting a mid-body grasp rather than an end grasp, though the bottom could extend beyond the fingertips.
My interpretation of the golden bottom at (280, 252) instead places it near world x = -0.08 m, y = -0.13 m, z = 0.78 m, at the front of the table. Could I have been dragging the toy while holding it rather than lifting it clear? The reported opening value stayed around 0.324 and the object moved with the gripper, but that does not settle whether its bottom stayed supported. Earlier, I lifted link6 to z = 1.079 m; without rotation, I expected the bottom at 0.755 + 0.149 = 0.904 m. Yet in obs_000370 I estimated a golden tip near (255, 285), even lower in the image, which conflicts with that prediction.
Could I be confusing the two wooden toys? The dropped lion is near the yellow pepper around (280, 200), while the second toy is held by the left arm. The lion has a mane and face, whereas the second toy looks elongated, perhaps horse-shaped. The hanging golden shape near (280, 250) in obs_000392 appears to be the elongated second toy, possibly with a long neck. A small circular feature near the blue front wall at (285, 197) appears to be the lion. I therefore still interpret the second toy as held.
Another possibility is that the visible part extends toward the robot rather than simply downward. At z = 0.9 m and image v = 252 pixels, I estimate world y ≈ -0.16 m, so a toy extending toward world y = -0.2 m could project there despite being high. The tilted fingers point toward +Y, but I do not know whether the toy’s long axis follows local X, extends backward toward -Y, or extends forward toward +Y. Its vertical axis in the wrist image combines local X and Z, so that view alone does not resolve its posture.
I should release only once the toy’s overhead footprint is inside the blue basket. Its visible bottom at (280, 252) is clearly outside the basket’s image y = 140–213 footprint, and releasing now would likely drop it outside again. I need to move it farther forward until its full footprint is around v = 140–210 pixels, or increase the tilt. The previous link6 target y = -0.09 m was insufficient: measured y is -0.103 m, close to that target, but the visible toy remains at v = 252. A forward move of about +0.1 m toward link6 y = 0 m might help, but that pose may be unreachable. Increasing the forward tilt to 60° could extend the held toy into the basket without requiring that reach.
At 60°, the finger direction would be (0, 0.866, -0.5). For a held contact at local X = 0.155 m, the world offsets would be +0.134 m in Y and -0.0775 m in Z, compared with +0.0775 m in Y and -0.134 m in Z at 30°. I estimate that the grasp point would move forward by +0.056 m and upward by +0.056 m. That might decrease overhead v by about 40 pixels, moving the visible bottom from 252 to 212 pixels, just at the basket front. To bring its center near v = 180, I might need more forward motion or tilt. A 60° tilt with link6 y = -0.07 m would add roughly +0.03 m of forward motion and might bring it near v = 195. If the toy extends along local X, the greater tilt may swing its whole body forward as needed.
For now, I’ll use the 60° tilt at link6 position [-0.05, -0.09, 1.02] m. Multiplying the downward yaw-90° quaternion by a local-Y 60° rotation uses [0.866025, 0, 0.5, 0] in wxyz order. My component calculation gives w = 0.433013 - 0.25 = 0.183013, x = -0.433013 - 0.25 = -0.683013, y = 0.25 + 0.433013 = 0.683013, and z = -0.25 + 0.433013 = 0.183013. The target quaternion is therefore [0.183013, -0.683013, 0.683013, 0.183013]. The fingers would be fairly horizontal and perhaps more parallel to the basket floor. I estimate the rotation from 30° to 60° as 0.524 rad and the position distance from the current pose as 0.021 m. This should swing the toy forward and upward. I still need to watch clearance at the blue front wall: raising the grasp point by about 0.056 m may also raise the bottom, depending on the toy’s posture. The target link6 height of 1.02 m adds another 0.015 m of lift. I’ll use six control steps with the left gripper closed.
The right arm could next approach the yellow pepper at its new location, now perhaps near world x = -0.01 m and within reach. Its current pose is [0.104, -0.126, 1.022] m, while the pepper appears near wrist pixel (0, 190) and overhead pixel (315, 236). I initially considered a grasp target near x = -0.012 m, y = -0.084 m, z = 0.94 m using an assumed object height of z = 0.8 m. I should refine that estimate from both views.
Using the earlier green-pepper estimate at overhead (467, 233), z = 0.8 m, with x = 0.3035 m and y = -0.1 m, I estimate an x scale of 0.002066 m per pixel. Pixel 315 is 5 pixels left of the image center, giving x ≈ -0.0103 m. For v = 236 rather than 233, I first estimate y ≈ -0.104 m, then consider that a 3-pixel increase could make y about 0.007 m more negative, near -0.107 m. My earlier yellow estimate at (295, 229), z = 0.8 m was around x = -0.0517 m, y = -0.0878 m, or roughly y = -0.085 m. I’ll provisionally use the new location near x = -0.01 m, y = -0.11 m.
A later right target of [-0.01, -0.11, 0.94] m at downward yaw 90° would move from the current pose by [-0.114, 0.016, -0.082] m, with an estimated distance of 0.141 m. The current quaternion [0.602, -0.406, 0.605, 0.328] is not fully downward. I initially wondered whether the rotation to yaw 90° would be about 0.8 rad; its dot product with [0.5, -0.5, 0.5, 0.5] is approximately 0.301 + 0.203 + 0.3025 + 0.164 = 0.9705, giving an estimated angle of 0.487 rad. That looks acceptable, and the nearer x and y coordinates may make the grasp reachable. I considered approaching with the right fingers open for six steps. The staged bar at x = 0.03 m, y = -0.19 m is behind that path, but the held toy and left arm are much closer.
I should not make both approaches simultaneously. The left link6 would be near x = -0.05 m and the right grasp target near x = -0.01 m, both around y = -0.1 m. Their roughly 4 cm separation is too small given an estimated open gripper width of 0.08 m along X, creating a possible collision. I’ll finish the left placement and withdraw before bringing the right gripper to the pepper.
I could hold the right arm at its retracted current pose while tilting the left arm. Instead, I’ll shift it farther right to [0.15, -0.126, 1.022] m, a +0.046 m move in X, keeping its current quaternion and open-gripper command. That should increase clearance. I’ll use six steps for the left 60° tilt and this rightward clearance move, then return to the yellow-pepper approach after the left arm has released and withdrawn.
